Postmeridian Dalí II

After The Ascension of Christ, 1958

“God has not the slightest need for our proofs.”—Karl Barth

this afternoon walk
of science

i’m starting
to remember

cosmic dreams
make for their truth

someone is in step
ahead

blind to conversation
wind-thrown

each statement
another position

mislaid
slow-going ricochet

like flat stone
readied

agreed, let us
note the difference:

stone skipping
or stone skimming

how many times
to bounce the idea

how far to go
before finality
